Scott Cox represented a client in U. S. District Court this week who was charged with multiple counts of tax evasion pursuant to Title 26 of the United States Code. Our client failed to report $2 million in income and owed the IRS $600,000 in unpaid tax. The Sentencing Guidelines recommended a three year period of imprisonment for tax fraud. Mr. Cox's ability to persuade the Judge to impose a sentence of probation will allow our client to maintain his employment and put him in a better position to make full restitution to the government.
The case was investigated by CID agents with the Internal Revenue Service.
