Ms. Payton was charged with first degree murder for allegedly hiring an individual to execute a young man who had allegedly cooperated with the government against her in her criminal case. The case was tried over a four day period in front of Chief Judge James Shake. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty on all counts against Ms. Payton.
